Watch out truck lovers, as the Chevrolet Colorado has once again taken the mid-size truck market by storm!

From exploring the outskirts of the wilderness to picking up the little ones at soccer practice, the Chevrolet Colorado can do it. It is one of the most well-configured trucks on the market for just about any occasion you could think of.

An Introduction to the Chevrolet Colorado

The Chevrolet Colorado was first introduced to the world back in 2004, and looked a lot like the Chevrolet Silverado. It was co-developed on a specific platform with Isuzu, and was available in regular, crew cab, and extended cab configurations. The agreement between Chevrolet and Isuzu to build a light-duty truck was very similar to the Chevrolet LUV, which the two companies had built back in the 1970s.

All Work and More Play – The Technology and Performance of the Chevrolet Colorado

The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado gives drivers a choice between a 2.8L four-cylinder engine or a V-6 engine that puts out 306 horsepower. The V-6 comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission while the four-cylinder comes with a manual. Trailer-sway control, which applies the brakes on the truck and trailer in the case of swaying, is available on all Colorado models.

There is a ton of storage space on the inside, which is highlighted by a center-console bin with incredible depth. The truck features some modern technological features, such as the Chevrolet Infotainment System 3 that comes with an 8.0” touchscreen. Some of the safety features on the Chevrolet Colorado include the front/bolster/curtain/rear curtain airbags, available lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning.

The Evolution of the Chevrolet Colorado

  • First Generation Chevrolet Colorado (2003-2012)

The first-generation Chevrolet Colorado was made to replace the S-10 model. It remained pretty stagnant until 2009, when StabiliTrak electronic stability control was made standard on all models.

  • Second Generation Chevrolet Colorado (2012-Present)

The second-generation Chevrolet Colorado uses a new fully-boxed perimeter frame, as well as redesigned steering and suspension. The engines have also been upgraded.
