If the Fiat 500 were a kindergartner, the Fiat 500X would be the little boy about to graduate high school.

We think of the Fiat 500X as grown-up version of the 500, with more room on the interior and true, traveling capabilities. The beauty is, it hasn’t dropped its original, tiny Italian charm.

A Short History of the Fiat 500X

The Fiat 500X is a subcompact crossover SUV that first made its debut at the Paris Motor Show back in 2014. It was the second four-door hatchback from Fiat right after the 500L. It was made to be the Fiat version of the Jeep Renegade.

The Weight-Lifting 500 – The Technology and Performance of the Fiat 500X

The 2019 Fiat 500X utilizes a 1.3L four-cylinder engine that puts out 177 horsepower. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, as well as all-wheel-drive. There are three different drive modes onboard as well, allowing you to toggle between them depending on driving conditions.

The interior presents drivers with a 7.0” touchscreen infotainment system that comes complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A high-quality Beats audio system is an optional feature. Upgrade to the driver-assistance package and you get blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlamps, lane-keeping assist, and more.

A Short Timeline of the Fiat 500X (2014-Present)

The Fiat 500X is still very much in its first generation, though when 2018 rolled around, it received a few notable upgrades. The exterior was revamped with full-LED headlights and LED light clusters. The rear bumpers were redesigned along with the wheels.

The interior was also upgraded with a new infotainment system. As of 2018, there are five different trim levels in the U.S., including Pop, Easy, Lounge, Trekking, and Trekking Plus.

The Fiat 500X In the News

In recent and unfortunate Fiat news, Fiat will be removing their 500 model from the market in 2020. This removal will leave only the roadster, the Fiat 500X, and the Fiat 500L utility vehicles in the North American market.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Fiat 500X

As of right now, we have been unable to find any celebrity owners of the 500X. With that said, there are plenty of Fiat 500 celebrity owners, including top names like Jodie Kidd, Jay Leno, Jennifer Lopez, and Charlie Sheen.

Best Fiat 500X Groups

If you are a Fiat 500X owner, you can join the few-thousand Fiat 500X owners and enthusiasts over at the Fiat 500X Owners Club Facebook page. It is an offshoot of the 500X club from the United Kingdom, though has people from all around the world.

The Fiat 500X – A Fiat Built For Fun

While we’d all like to have a Fiat 500 to cruise the streets in, we can’t deny that the 500 isn’t the most versatile vehicle. This is where the 500X comes in handy. It allows drivers to have that same Italian charm with the ability to go out and explore the world, just like you would with a Jeep. We’re sad to say goodbye to the original 500, though we hope that the 500X continues to grow as an on-the-go vehicle in years to come.
