Not too long ago, Hyundai decided that they wanted to release a luxury brand to enter into the high-end vehicle market.
Based off of the Hyundai Genesis, a once-popular sedan, the Genesis G80 hit the market in stride. With a handsome style and premium features that will please any luxury vehicle lover, the Genesis G80 has hit the market with total poise and promise.
A History of the Genesis G80
The Genesis G80 was first unveiled at the North American International Auto Show back in 2016, and it went on sale in Korea the same year. It wasn’t launched to the Russian market until 2017, and wouldn’t go on sale to the American market until 2018.
Refined Performance and Technology of the Genesis G80
The 2019 Genesis G80 comes complete with a 3.8L V-6 engine at the base-level, though has an optional 5.0L V-8 engine for those that are looking for a bit more power. There is also a Sport model that utilizes a 3.3L twin-turbocharged engine with V-6 fuel economy and insane V-8 performance. The Sport model is able to deliver a 0-60 time of about 4.9 seconds.
It utilizes a well-damped suspension, as well as highly-controlled handling. For G80 Sport drivers, the car includes adaptive suspension that works to increase the damping force as the car moves over rougher terrain.
The G80 comes complete with a long list of infotainment features and climate control features. The top package comes with a 9.2” touchscreen infotainment system, though you can opt for the standard 8.0” unit as well. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Navigation, are each standard. There are an array of driver-assistance features as well, including automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
The First Generation of the Genesis G80 (2016-Present)
The Genesis G80 is still very much in its first generation. The one major change came about in 2017, when the G80 Sport was paired with a 3.0L twin-turbo V-6 engine. The bumpers were redesigned for a sportier look and the car was given quad-exhaust tips. The car also received standard 19” wheel, as well as a brand new mesh grille. United States models eventually went on sale in 2018.
The Genesis G80 In the News
In recent news, both Hyundai and Porsche have invested in augmented reality navigation systems that they are currently testing in a few of their cars. Hyundai just demonstrated how the navigation system might work in their Genesis G80 Sedan, and it is pretty awesome. They say that though this is just a concept at this point, it is a very important step towards serious technological innovation.
Celebrity Endorsements of the Genesis G80
As of right now, we have been unable to find any celebrity owners of the Genesis G80. This is likely because the car is so new. We can probably expect to see some new celebrity endorsements as the car moves into the second generation.
Best Genesis G80 Groups
Though the Genesis G80 hasn’t been around for very long, a large community has already come together to create a large club that is circled around the G80. At Genesis G80 Forum, you can find tons of forums with information on the new Genesis G80 models.
The Genesis G80 – Proving Its Mettle
There is no doubt that the Genesis G80 is trying to prove itself among the large number of established Japanese and European-brand sedans. We’d have to say that it is doing pretty well for itself so far. In terms of value, it offers just about everything that its rivals offer at a far better price. With a relaxed performance and a slew of luxury features, we can only look forward to what Hyundai decides to do with this luxury car as the future moves forward.
