Most people in the states have heard of the Hyundai Accent, though it is not to be confused with ever-popular Xcent that is available on the Indian market. This subcompact car is one of the best consumer cars in India and has been making quite a stir over the last decade.
A Brief History of the Hyundai Xcent
The Xcent was launched on March 12, 2014, as a big replacement for the second-gen Accent that was available in India at the time. It was made to compete with other subcompact cars that were becoming popular, such as the Tata Zest, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, and the Honda Amaze.
Modern Technology and the Hyundai Xcent
The Hyundai Xcent uses the Grand i10 platform with both diesel and petrol variants, available in two different engine options including the 1.2 Kappa Dual VTVT petrol and the 1.1L second-generation U2 CRDi.
Some of the top features include swept-back headlamps, wraparound taillights, and an integrated spoiler. The car uses keyless push-button start and a rear parking camera with sensors as well.
The car can be purchased in both four-speed automatic transmission and five-speed manual.
A Short and Sweet Timeline of the Hyundai Xcent (2014-Present)
The Hyundai Xcent is still in its first generation and is sold in Mexico as the i10 Sedan. Since its inception, it has been made available in three different trim levels, including the Base, S, and SX. The S and SX models come with power-folding mirrors, an automatic braking system, and a fully automatic AC.
The Hyundai Xcent in the News
In recent Hyundai news, the Grand i10 Nios-Based Xcent was just recently caught on tape. It is set to launch in India very soon. As of now, it looks as though it sports the same subcompact design with very similar features, though we can expect a new infotainment system and a completely redesigned dashboard.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Hyundai Xcent
It is not uncommon for Indian celebrities to become the brand ambassadors for vehicles in India. The Hyundai Xcent was pretty lucky in that it bagged one of India’s most dynamic actors, Shah Rukh Khan. This isn’t his first time as a brand ambassador for Hyundai, either!
Best Hyundai Xcent Groups
It seems as though there aren’t any large Hyundai Xcent clubs or groups around at the moment, though there is a small Facebook group for Hyundai owners and enthusiasts in India. It has only a couple hundred followers at the moment, though it is slowly growing.
The Hyundai Xcent – a Car for the Indian Consumer
When it comes to Hyundai consumer cars in India, the Xcent is at the top. Though it may not be anything special when compared to supercars, let alone Hyundai models in the United States, this subcompact vehicle has made quite a name for itself in the country. We believe that it will be the car that helps to bring modern technology to the Indian automobile market.
